The 45th Sri Lanka Schools Swimming Championship will get underway at the Sugathadasa Swimming Complex in Colombo from today (6).
The event organised by Sri Lanka School Aquatic Sports Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and sponsored by Nestle` Lanka's Milo, has attracted over 3100 entries from schools across the nation.
Swimming events will be held right across the entire five days while diving events will be held on Thursday (7) and Friday (8).
The event includes 164 events in total -- 140 individual and 24 relay events -- as schools from all provinces besides the North, are expected to compete.
A total of 1850 entries in the boys’ from 85 schools, 1214 entries from girls' from 54 schools and further 47 mixed schools have entered this year's competition.
St. Joseph’s College, Colombo and Mahamaya Girls School, Kandy are the defending champions in boy's and girls’ categories respectively.
