Sankha Athukorale and Sharmal Dissanayake, after two contrasting semi-final clashes, reached the final of Men’s Singles of the Queen’s Open Ranking Tennis Championship 2015 at the Gymkhana Tennis Courts in Colombo on Tuesday (13). Top seed Athukorale had to survive a vivid five-setter against third seed Nishangan Nadaraja in the first semi-final while fourth seed Dissanayake had an easy passage against second seed Dineshkanthan Thangarajah in the second semi-final. Athukorale beat Nishangan by 1-6, 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 and 6-0 while Dissanayake beat Thangarajah by 6-3, 4-6, 6-1 and 6-1.

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has interdicted Colombo Fort Magistrate Kosala Senadheera.
The Supreme Court today refused interim relief in an application filed by President’s Counsel Senaka Walgampaya seeking an Order from the Supreme Court compelling the President to appoint judges to fill the existing vacancies in the Court Of Appeal.
The deadline for online applications to the 2024 G.C.E. Advanced Level (A/L) Examination has been extended until July 12, the Department of Examinations said.
