After a grueling battle Dineshkanthan Thangarajah defeated Sankha Atukorale 7-6 (4), 6-3 to clinch the Men’s Open Singles title of the Sri Lanka Clay Courts Tennis Nationals played at the Sri Lanka Tennis Courts.
Dineshkanthan, seeded eight, reached the final after easily beating Liu Hui Retallick in straight sets, 6/3, 6/2.
He beat Mufazzal Hossain comfortably in straight sets 6/3, 6/0 in the quarter-final.
In the semi-final Athukorala beat Delwar Hossain in straight sets 6/3, 6/1 to reach the final, after overcoming Rostom Ali in the quarter-final 6/4, 4/6, 7/5.
