Tennis: Machado set to take on Zekic in ITF F2 final

Rui Machado of Portugal and Miljan Zekic of Serbia advanced to the final of the Sri Lanka F2 Men’s Futures Tennis tournament with easy wins in the semi-final encounters played at the SLTA tennis courts in Greenpath, Colombo on Saturday (14).   Machado, the winner of the Sri Lanka F1 Tennis tournament held last week will be looking for a repeat performance as he overcame Jons Luetjen of Germany while Zekic got the better of Indian Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash with the same winning margin of 2-0.   Meanwhile in the second semi-final of the doubles category which was played in the morning on Saturday (14) saw the Czech Republic pair of Libor Salaba and Jan Satral defeating the Indian pair Christopher Rungkat and Ranjeet Viral Murugesan to qualify to the final.   Later the second seed Czech Republic pair went on to bag the doubles title when they defeated the top seed pair of Sander Gille of Belgium and Liang-Chi Huang of Taipei in a thrilling final clash played in the evening.   The singles final between Rui Machado and Miljan Zekic is scheduled to be played from 9.00am onwards on Sunday (15).   Semi-final results:   Singles: Rui Machado (Portugal) beat Jonas Luetjen (Germany) 2-0 (7/5, 6/1); Miljan Zekic (Serbia) beat Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash (India) 2-0 (6/3, 6/3).   Doubles: Sander Gille (Belgium) / Liang-Chi Huang (Taipei) beat Miljan Zekic / Arsenije Zlatanovic (Serbia) 2-0 (6/4, 6/4); Libor Salaba / Jan Satral (Czech Republic) beat Christopher Rungkat/ Ranjeet Viral Murugesan (India) 2-0 (6/2, 6/3).   Doubles final: Libor Salaba / Jan Satral (Czech Republic) beat Sander Gille (Belgium) / Liang-Chi Huang (Taipei) 2-1 (6/2, 4/6, 11/9).
