Zahira College won the Kotmale Under-19 Schools Football Championship for the second time when they totally dominated home team St. Patrick's College Jaffna by 3-0 in the final.
The encounter, played for the first time in Jaffna at the Duraiappah Stadium in front of a packed crowd on Sunday (6) had all the thrills and fills a school football game could offer.
Mohamed Shaffran scored the first goal for Zahira in the 35th minute and the other two goals were scored by Mohamed Saheel on the 51st and 80th minutes in to the game.
M.A. Saheel and Kaleel Rahman of Zahira College were awarded as Man of the match and Best Goal Keeper in the Final match respectively.
St. Henry’s College, last years’ champions became second runners-up this year after defeating St. Joseph Vaz College by 3-0 in the Third Place Playoff.
The goals were scored by S. Rubanraj in 22nd minute, G. Antonyraj on 54th minute and N.A. Ramesh in the 79th minute.
