Science College and Trinity College beat St. Peter’s College and D.S. Senanayake College in the quarter-finals of the Milo President’s Trophy Knockout Under-20 Schools Rugby Championship, which began on Sunday (28) at the Royal College Sports Complex. Science will meet current Singer League Champions Royal College in the first semi-final on Saturday (4) while Trinity is set to meet defending champions Isipathana College in the second decider on Sunday (5). Both matches will be played at the Royal College Sports Complex. In the first quarter-final after dominating the first half Science College prevailed to beat a regrouped St. Peter’s College unit 27-22 on Sunday (28). Science led 22-5 at halftime and scored from four tries, two conversions and a penalty. The Peterites came back strongly in the second half scoring 17 points and ended up scoring off four tries and a conversion. Trinity College beat D.S. Senanayake College 41-14 after leading 19-7 at halftime in the other quarter-final played on Monday (29). Trinity scored from six tries, four conversions and a penalty while D.S. Senanayake scored from two converted tries. Royal and Isipathana, last year’s finalists, received bys in the quarter-final stage.
