St. Xavier’s College Marawila, Rajasinghe Central Ruwanwella and Wijeyaba National School Hungama have qualified for three finals of the DSI Super Sports Schools Volleyball Tournament which begins on Monday (23).
The finals of the DSI Super Sport School Volleyball Tournament will take place on Monday (23) and Tuesday (24) at the National Youth Services Council Indoor Stadium in Maharagama.
St. Xavier’s College reached the finals of the Boys' Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 while Rajasinghe Central reached the finals of the Boys’ Under-13, Under-15 and Under-19 categories.
Wijeyaba NS reached the finals of the Boys' Under-17, Girls’ Under-15 and Under-19 categories.
The competition is sponsored by D. Samson and Sons.
Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam will be the chief guest at the closing ceremony.
The competitions are conducted by the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and the Schools Volleyball Association.
The tournament was conducted in four age groups -- Under-13, Under-15, Under-17 and Under-19 for Girls and Boys.
Over 2,000 teams islandwide participated in the tournament.
The competition was inaugurated in 1999 with only 198 teams.
