Volleyball: Joseph Vaz and Galigamuwa Central win DSI Supersports titles

St. Joseph Vaz College Wenappuwa and Galigamuwa Central won the Under-18 Boy's and Girlr titles respectively at the DSI Supesports Schools Volleyball Championship finals played at the National Youth Services Indoor Stadium in Maharagama on Saturday (16). 

St. Joseph Vaz were given a tough game by title favourites Nattandiya Dammissara Central spikers before emerging victorious by 3-2 (25-15, 21-25, 23-25, 25-21, 11-15) in the Boy's Under-18 final. 

In the Girls' Under-18 final Galigamuwa Central scored an easy 3-0 (27-25, 25-13, 25-17) over Nattandiya Dammissara Central. 

The Under-16 finals concluded in earlier on with St. Xavier's College and Mahauswewa Ratanapala Maha Vidyalaya emerging champions in the Boys and Girls categories respectively.

On their way to the titles St. Xavier's beat Dammissara Central by 3-1 (25-17, 21-25, 25-20, 25-19) while Mahauswewa Ratanapala MV scored a close 3-2 (28-26, 19-25, 25-10, 23-25, 15-3) victory over Galigamuwa Central. 

In the Under-14 Boy's finals played on Friday (15) Ruwanwella Rajasinghe Central beat St. Xavier's College Marawila 3-2 (25-15, 21-15, 23-15, 25-21, 11-15) while in the Girls' final Uhanatissapura Maha Vidyalaya Ampara defeated Hungama Vijayaba National School by 3-1 (25-17, 17-25, 19-25, 17-25).
