A youth who holds the national record in Shot Putt event in Sri Lanka who is a firm believer of fitness studied the American gym models and on his return to Sri Lanka with a dream of introducing a gym system.

In Sri Lanka this youth realised that the US system will not suit Sri Lanka and established Power World Gym system.

Power World grew from strength to strength to have 17 gyms in the city of Colombo alone.

Then going on to become the island’s pioneer gym chain with over two decades of experience. Power World has developed a model that plays a pivotal in shaping the fitness industry of the country.

It is the market leader and has maintained his status for the past 17 years.

The founder of Power World Gyms Talavou F. Alailima stated that monitoring the fast growth of Power World gyms India’s Talwalkers Fitness Limited came forward on a 50-50 deal inviting Power World to establish gyms in India.

Initially Power World started 20 gyms in the city of Bangalore and will be establishing 20 gyms in each city in India in the near future.

It will be a pride to a small country like Sri Lanka to start this sort of project in a giant country like India.

The entry to the Indian fitness industry, with the launch in Bangalore, raises Power World Gym profile in the Indian sub-continent.

The founder Alailima is hoping to launch the system in the other parts of the world too.

In October 2015, Talwalkers Better Value Fitness Limited – India’s largest chain of fitness centres made a strategic investment in Power World Gyms as their maiden investment outside India, Talwalkers with over 176 gyms across 84 cities.

Speaking further Alailima said that his main aim is to take the name of Sri Lanka to the top in the world fitness program.

In every city in India100 selected youngsters will be undergoing training under the watchful eyes of top qualified doctors and instructors giving the trainees the correct techniques in fitness building.

Alailima also said that when he came to Sri Lanka he realised that the US system will have to be re-structured to suit Sri Lanka.

It became a fruitful endeavour as the system was recognised first by India and he hopes that some more countries will come forward in recognition of the Lankan system.

Speaking of the gyms of Power World in Sri Lanka he said that every gym will be equipped with Cardiovascular equipment, strength machines and free weights, catering to a 1000 in each location.

They are equipped with top-of-the-line equipment. Each centre will have qualified fitness instructors and fitness managers.

On conclusion the founder said the two power houses Power World Gyms and Talwalkers have set out on a ground breaking endeavour to put Sri Lankans on fast track to fitness.
