The Maldivian Supreme Court today (Nov 26) overturned the 13-year jail sentence imposed on Former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed.
According to Maldivian media the Supreme Court ruled that he was wrongfully charged and the criminal court should not have proceeded to trial.
The verdict was issued today following a review of the controversial terrorism conviction.
Nasheed was found guilty of ordering the military’s “abduction” of the criminal court’s chief judge in January 2012.
