American College of Higher Education is proud to announce that it has reached a significant milestone since its inception 14 years ago, by transferring 1002 students to prestigious universities in the US and other countries for the completion of their degrees.

American College of Higher Education (ACHE) was established in 1995 and throughout the years it has expanded its reach across the country by creating branch campuses in strategic locations such as Kandy, Galle, Negombo, Kurnegala and Matara.

ACHE's affiliation with Broward College situated at Fort Lauderdale, Florida has provided them the opportunity to transfer undergraduates to universities in the US and elsewhere.

"The 4 year degree programmes offered by ACHE allow the students to complete the first two years in Sri Lanka and then they are transferred to a recognized university in the US or universities situated in countries like Canada, Australia, UK ,Singapore, Malaysia or elsewhere depending on the students preference. It's advantageous for the undergraduates to follow internationally recognized courses that are based on the Broward College curriculum," said Victor S Patrick, Senior Manager at ACHE.

He further stressed that "students can complete two years of the degree programme in Sri Lanka which is cost effective and convenient. If their academic performance is good they are offered scholarships. This degree programme also gives them the opportunity to get accustomed to the American education system which makes it easier to adapt when transferred to the US. Most students perform well owing to this method."

Besides the degrees, ACHE also has four year Bachelors Programmes that can be completed in Sri Lanka. These bachelors programmes are conferred by Excelsior College- a member of the University of the State of New York. This includes B.S in Human Resource Management, General Business and Information Technology.

ACHE further offers two year Associate Degrees in areas such as Science, Arts, Business, Administrative and Management Studies.

Meanwhile, students who wish to pursue the country's only US MBA can follow the programme at ACHE. The 1+1 MBA is conducted in collaboration with the North Dakota State University (NDSU) in the US and accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

It's important to note that only 15% of the Business Colleges and universities across the world are accredited by this governing body. Mrs. Nirmala Wijeratnam is the 1st student to be transferred during the spring semester 2009 according to this 1+1 MBA to NDSU for the completion of her higher studies.

Depending on academic performance of the student during the first year in Sri Lanka, the university grants a scholarship worth 7000 USD to successfully complete their second year at NDSU.

A diploma offered by ACHE, that has become popular among the younger generation especially school leavers is the Tourism and Travel -Flight Services Diploma conducted in collaboration with the largest College in Canada, Seneca College of applied arts and technology in Toronto which is sponsored and funded by the government.

The first 10 months of this 18 month diploma can be completed in Sri Lanka while the remaining is to be completed in Canada.

Speaking more on this Mr.Patrick pointed out "this job oriented professional diploma covers a range of areas and provides plenty of job opportunities for students to pursue. After the completion of the programme the students are eligible to apply for a one year work permit in Canada or follow their higher studies at several recognized universities across the globe."

He further added that there is a popular demand for this particular diploma among the students due to the glamour and wide spread opportunities, available in this industry, which is expanding at a rapid pace.

ACHE furthermore, offers students a prospect to follow 80 recognized diploma and certificate courses in different disciplines ranging from Business, English, psychology to communication, computer etc and also provides assistance for students to prepare for standardized exams such as IELTS, TOFEL, GRE, GMAT and SAT.
