Imperial College conducted their 4th Consecutive Workshop for Potential Marketers on the theme 'WIN WITH MARKETING FOR LIFE'. Deepal Sooriyaarachchi, the renowned Management and Marketing Professional who graced the occasion made a thought provoking keynote address 'Listen to Deepal the Student'. Packed with his own and other experiences he presented to participants the road map to achieve success in their marketing careers. Those who accept and practise his most valuable advise is bound to achieve success and overcome challenges.
Dr. Nalaka Godahewa, Advisor to the BOI, Director of several Corporates and former CEO for Sri Lanka Insurance spoke on 'Personal Branding' and how potential marketers should develop themselves as a brand in this competitive environment to create competitive advantage and achieve professional excellence. His advisory and inspiring address was of immense value to youngsters to forage ahead and to become great performers in their professions.
The Workshop commenced with a presentation on 'Obama the Marketing Genius' by Lewie Diasz, an experienced marketing professional and Chief Manager, American Express Cards and Consumer Assets. He explained how strategic marketing tools such as differentiation and positioning and other tactical elements of the marketing mix such as integrated marketing communications were used by the 'Obama team' driven by the theme 'Yes we can' to make Barak Obama ascend to the highest position of becoming the President of the United States of America despite the many challenges the Obama product confronted.
Yasas Hewage, Asst. Vice President - Head Branch Strategy & Sales, NDB Bank, made a revealing and most appropriate presentation of a subject of immense importance of our times 'The Green Revolution and Marketing'. He talked about the tragedies faced due to climate change and other natural disasters happening globally due to man's own neglect and disinterest of the environment they inhabit. He went on to highlight the emergence of the 'Green Consumer' who today embraces green products and services paying a premium.
The need to build 'Sustainable Brands' was highlighted as the challenge for the marketers in the decade to come.
Veteran Marketer, Country Director and Member Advisory Council of Global Marketing Network, UK Dr. Ranjan Madanayake gave a practical insight into marketing's most invaluable strategic concept 'Positioning' and demonstrated his new research finding 'The Positioning Triangle'. He explained the various concepts that are available to achieve a strategic positioning for the Corporate, Value propositions and against Competition. All participants were awarded a Certificate of Participation. |
