Australia is among the OECD's top five providers of education for international students. With a thorough understanding of ever-changing industry demands, Melbourne Institute of Technology is a modern, innovative and dynamic institute providing high-quality education through the use of up-to-date technology with personalised service.
MIT has two convenient, centrally located campuses in Sydney and of course Melbourne. MIT Sydney campus is located in the heart of cosmopolitan, vibrant and multicultural Sydney. Whilst not the capital, it is undoubtedly Australia's best known city due to its stunning landmarks such as the Opera House and Harbour Bridge. It has a population of over four million and enjoys a temperate climate year-round with average temperatures of between 14 and 22 degrees. Located on the east coast of Australia, Sydney is also a beautiful, livable city with a magnificent harbour, parklands and ocean beaches. MIT Melbourne campus is located in the heart of the city of Melbourne, capital of the state of Victoria. The city itself is located amidst parklands along the banks of the Yarra River, just a few kilometres from Port Phillip Bay. With the sea to the south and mountains to the north, the city offers something for everyone. With a vibrant multicultural population of over 3 million, it's the second-largest city in Australia and is a busy financial and business centre. It also has the highest number of educational institutions and is rightly referred to as Australia's education capital.
At MIT, we offer University of Ballarat Bachelors, Graduate Diplomas and Masters Programmes in Business and IT. In addition, we have a range of MIT courses: Diplomas of Business, IT and networking, designed as an alternative pathway for tertiary study; Australian Computer Society (ACS) accredited Bachelor and Masters of Networking; a Bachelor of Business, and a work-ready focused Master of Professional Accounting, which has both CPA and NIA accreditation. MIT also delivers fully accredited English language courses in General and Academic English, from 2-50 weeks duration.
The MIT student body is made up of many nationalities. MIT Sydney campus comprises entirely of international students from around the world. We have a large contingent of students from the Indian sub-continent (Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka), students from the Middle East (Lebanon, Iran and Jordan) and Asia (China, Thailand and Vietnam). Our Melbourne campus also has local Australian students, making MIT a truly international learning environment.
Scholarships are also available at MIT. These opportunities reflect the institute's recognition of the contribution students make to MIT and the wider community. Our scholarships help in creating an environment where students from around the world can be inspired and achieve excellence. However, scholarships at MIT not only reward academic achievement, but also assist students from various backgrounds to achieve their educational goals. The Global Financial Crisis Scholarship is an example of this.
Our teaching staff are highly qualified (commonly doctorate holders) with extensive experience in industry as well as academia. Most importantly, MIT staff are concerned with the overall welfare of the student, not only with study-related matters and we pride ourselves on our ability to provide individualised attention to ensure that all students have the best possible chance of academic and professional success. Some of the free support programmes include academic mentoring, study skills workshops, assignment checking, exam preparation and assistance with job readiness. Our graduates also enjoy ongoing, individual support from MIT through our career development service. Our student-oriented focus, together with the convenience of central city locations, make MIT the ideal learning environment.
