Empowering young musicians

The Western music practical seminar organised by the Youth Music Council of Sri Lanka, which was held recently at the main hall of S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia turned out to be quite a success.

Around 450 students and teachers from 25 schools took part in the seminar. This is approximately 1/5th of the student population offering Western Music for the G.C.E Ordinary Level in Sri Lanka.

This was the first Western Music practical seminar for the students held in the country and was also the first project organized by the Youth Music Council. More seminars are planned for the future in line with their motto: “Empowering young musicians of Sri Lanka.”

The CDs on popular compositions were in high demand at the seminar, and can be ordered, and are priced at Rs. 150. Also, the mock papers together with the CD, which were used at the seminar priced at Rs. 300 can be ordered by calling the following numbers 0773686087 or 0771748883.
