Interact Grammys

By Randi Goonetilleke and Ruwanthi Herat Gunaratne
'Seek and you will find,' seems to be the motto of the committee of Talent Search 2001. And the sixteen young Interactors from St. Bridget's Convent and Royal College, Colombo are bubbling with excitement at the prospect of organizing an event of this magnitude.

"This is the tenth consecutive year we will hold Talent Search," said Int. Ravin A. De Silva, the Co-Project Chairperson from Royal College, "And the second time we will be joining hands with the Interactors of St.Bridget's Convent."

So, how has it been so far? "It has been enlight-ning and interesting at the same time.

We are one hundred percent sure that the show is going to be very special," volunteered Int. Ishara Wickramasinghe, the Co-Project Chairperson from St. Bridget's Convent enthusiastically.

The semi-finals of Talent Search 2001 will be held on November 4, at the Royal College Hall from 8.30 a.m. onwards, and the Finals on November 10, at the Navaragahala at 6.30 p.m.

This year the theme 'The Interact Grammys' is guaranteed, the Organizing Committee feels, to be a real crowd puller.

Some of the categories are Solo Singing, Group Singing, Instrumental, Group Dancing, and added for the first time this year are the Rap and the DJ categories.

This year non-interactors too will be allowed to participate in the event.

"Sri Lanka is a gold mine of talent, but this talent is constrained by the lack of opportunity.

"We aim to present this opportunity, by staging a show that will encourage them and give them a start in pursuing their dreams.' This is the thought that guides the committee .

Main sponsorship of the event has been taken on by the Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants and co-sponsorship by DMS.

The Sunday Times is the official news paper. Tickets for the event will be priced at Rs. 100/= and 150/=.
