The seven Test Caps produced by St. Sebastian’s College, Moratuwa will be honoured in a fitting felicitation tonight at Hotel Holiday Inn.
The seven Test Cricketers of St. Sebastian's College are veteran Captain Duleep Mendis, spinner Roger Wijesuriya, opening bat Susil Fernando, who opened with Sidath, explosive hard hitter Romesh Kaluwitharana, popularly known as 'Little Kalu', pacies Sajeewa de Silva, Dinusha Fernando and current Test Wicket keeper Prasanna Jayawardena.
This ceremony is organized by the Golden Sebs Group of the College and on this day they will also honour their Super Achievers in their respective careers namely Rt. Rev. Valance Mendis, Prof. Shyam Fernando, Bede Fernando and Priyan Arsakularatne along with the present Rector of the College, Rev. Fr. Bonnie Fernandopulle.
The Chief Guest for this function is Most Rev. Dr. Oswald Gomis, Arch Bishop of Colombo.

Duleep Mendis
Captained the College 1st XI Cricket team in 1969 and was the first Sebastianite to score 1000 runs in 1968/69 season.
Represented Sri Lanka in 24 Test matches and 79 ODI’s from 1982-1988. Captained Sri Lanka and led the country to its inaugural Test and series victory against India in 1985. He remained in the public eye, with Sri Lanka’s world-cup success in 1996 while he was managing the National Team. Presently, he is the CEO of Sri Lanka Cricket.
Roger Wijesuriya
Captained the College 1st XI Cricket team in 1979. Represented Sri Lanka in four Test matches and eight ODI’s from 1982-1985. He was a National Selector. Presently, he is the National Coach for Under 20 Team.
Susil Fernando
Captained the College 1st XI Cricket team in 1974. Represented Sri Lanka in Test matches and eight ODI’s from 1982-1985. He was the 1st schoolboy to score 1000 runs in consecutive seasons in 1973/74 and 1974/75. He still holds the College batting record for the highest individual score of 216 Not Out vs. Thurstan College in 1974. Migrated to Australia in 1991.
Romesh Kaluwitharana
Captained the College 1st XI Cricket team in 1988. Represented Sri Lanka in 49 Test matches and 189 ODI’ from 1992-2004. ‘Kalu’ burst into the International scene with an unbeaten 132 on debut against Australia in 1992-1993. In 1995, he combined with Sanath Jayasuriya to form a devastating pinch hitting opening partnership. The pair’s scoring rate revolutionized one-day batting, and he was an integral figure in Sri Lanka’s astonishing World Cup victory in 1996. Presently, he is the National Cricket Coach of Malaysia.
Sajeewa De Silva
Played for College 1st XI Cricket team from 1989 – 92. Represented Sri Lanka in 8 Test matches and 38 ODI’s from 1997-1999. Presently, he is employed at HNB.
Prasanna
Jayawardena
Played for College 1st XI cricket team in 1996-98. He is in current Sri Lanka Test Squad and played in 18 Test matches so far and 6 ODI’s from 2000 to-date. He is the regular wicket keeper of the present National Test Team and also a useful middle order batsman. He is employed at Unichela.
Dinusha Fernando
Played for College 1st XI cricket team in 1996-98. Represented Sri Lanka in 2 Test matches and 1 ODI’s in 2003. Presently, he is a professional Cricketer playing League cricket in UK and Premier cricket in Sri Lanka.
Flavian Aponso, another old boy involved with international cricket, Captained the College in 1970 and he represented Holland National Cricket Team in 1996 World Cup.
In addition, Anton Sethupathy, another Sebastianite played for the All Ceylon Team in pre Test era and he is now residing in
Australia.
