‘Tikiri Suwanda’ scents the beauty of children

The maiden film direction of Sunil Aruna Weerasiri ‘Tikiri Suwanda’ started its shooting at its main locations in and around Colombo and Narammala this week.

Producer of two early films, Aruna who is also the producer of the film could boast of an impressive cast including internationally awarded Joe Abeywickrema, Jayalal Rohana, Anura Karunatilake, Giriraj Kaushalya, Duleeka Marapana, Jayani Senanayake, Rodney Warnakula. Priyantha Seneviratne, Ramya Wanigasekara, Janaka Ranasinghe, Sarath Chandrasiri, Anura Bandara Rajaguru, Sarath Kothalawela, Upeksha Swarnamalee, Saranapala Jayasuriya together with a group of up and coming actors and children including Promod Mihiranga Weerasiri who will make their maiden appearance in cinema.

“This is a story revolving round an unfortunate child deprived of parental love and forced to be brought up in an unwelcoming background,” said director Aruna Weerasiri speaking to TV Times.

The story written by Lal Pagodaarachchi depicts a child whose parents died when he was young. He is brought up by his uncle, a vicious man. The background of his childhood is not so encouraging. However the story is to highlight how a child who is brought up in a complicated and discouraging backdrop turns out to be an exemplary citizien winning the hearts of everyone around him.

The technical crew behind the screen includes, K. D. Dayananda as the cinematographer, Nimal Rajapaksa as make up artiste, Sumith Kudaligama as art director and Rohana Weerasinghe as music director. To the lyrics penned by Ven. Rambukkana Siddhartha Thera and Bandula Nanayakkarawasam, playback is done by Nanda Malani, Rodney Warnakula. Sumith Prasanna and Lionel Gunaratne are to work as Production Managers and Kanthi Weerasiri will play the role of production executive.
