The most decisive Advanced Level examination has now concluded so that it is certainly a time to relax and be happy for the hard labour you invested and the sweat and tears you shed to make a new opening for your future career. But do bear in mind that passing your ALs is not an adequate qualification to head a journey in the present market, however much you want it to be so.
In the present society job availability is very scarce with limited opportunities available and lots of young people losing track of where to head with no marketing qualifications. Therefore, after concluding your A/L examination it would be prudent to think of a marketing qualification that would drive you into the path of success in the most competitive business market.
Today we find many qualifications of extremely high value but of little recognition. What is important for youngsters is to choose a qualification that has both affordability and recognition; which seems very rare. But like a diamond that lies amidst stones there still is a golden opportunity for students after A/Ls to pursue a world renowned affordable qualification offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL), Sri Lanka's premier national Accounting body that has a long history dating back to 50 years of valuable educational service, with continuous trust and dependability.
The ICASL has now opened a new clear avenue especially for school leavers, offering a wide range of opportunities through its revised new curriculum for the year 2010. The new Syllabus change is in par with international trends of the accounting subject providing students a competent knowledge that enables them to deal successfully even in tense business environments. Under the New curriculum of ICASL the study course has been structured into three levels. Certificate in Accounting and Business (CAB) consists of 4 modules based on Semester end Examination and Top CA Case study, IT Skills development module and Practical training module, a Communication module based on a workshop and finally a presentation on skills module. And finally the Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA) qualification contains 7 modules based on Semester end Examinations, 2 communication modules based on semester end examinations, an IT skill development module and a practical training module.
All these levels are well recognized both locally and overseas and gives the student a thorough understanding on key subjects related to accounting such as

key elements that sharpen and nurture the capabilities of a competent accountant. The most important and unique feature of the ICASL qualification is the practical training period a student has to undergo during the course of study. Presently there are more than 800 training organizations attached to the Institute that provide training for our students to apply their theories learned in classrooms to realistic business situations.
The ICASL throughout the past 50 years has produced many talented intellectuals who presently excel in diversified business entities making their institute and the country proud. Out of the 4,000 odd members nearly 30% are based in overseas employment. The value and quality of ICASL is apparent in the 30,000 odd student body that has joined hands with us.
