ICFAI Education Lanka (IEL) is the Sri Lanka Campus of the ICFAI University in India catering to Sri Lankan students. ICFAI is a ‘not for profit’ organization fully involved in all facets of education – offering degree and other professional programmes, publishing books, magazines in management and other disciplines , case study material etc.
This University is committed to develop leaders capable of making decisions in a complex global environment and who are dedicated to serve their companies, society and humanity and it imparts education with a vision “MERITUM ETHICUS” implying Merit with Ethics and with a Mission “Learning for Leadership”.
IEL caters to students at undergraduate level – Bachelor of Business Administration Degree (BBA), Bachelor of Science in Information Technology Degree (BSc IT) and Postgraduate level in-campus Master of Business Administration Degree (MBA) and Distance Learning Programmes - MBA Degree, Certified International investment Analyst (CIIA) and Certified Treasury Manager (CTM).
At the moment IEL has six batches of students for the in campus undergraduate degree programmes and four batches for the in campus MBA Programme. A further 500 students have been registered for the DLP MBA programme.
The Distance learning students could register for the degree/Professional Certificate Programmes any day and for the next in-campus MBA Degree programme in October 2009.
The certificates will be awarded to more than 200 students who have completed their studies during the period September 2008 to August 2009 at the Convocation to be held on the 10th of October 2009 at the BMICH.
K V Iyer, International Head of Operations, ICFAI who is a master’s graduate from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahamadabad, India with extensive working experience as CEO of many companies was in Sri Lanka and said that they have a student population of around 300,000 in India. The Head office of the ICFAI University is located in Hyderabad and they have established eight university campuses and around seventy five DLP centers in India operating under the Indian University Grants Commission rules and regulations.
ICFAI has their branches in Sri Lanka and Dubai since four years and ICFAI has set up international campuses in Australia – Adelaide and South Australia in partnership with University of South Australia (UNSA). They have setup a Campus in Lutton, United Kingdom in partnership with the University of Bedfordshire which will commence enrollment shortly.
He said that due to the Global Economic slow down some of their international programmes to set up campuses in Switzerland, New Zealand, United Arab Emirates, United States of America are on hold but will commence soon.
All campuses are professionally oriented to provide a global MBA able to equip the students to face issues and problems by creating managers fully sensitive on global issues. This programme will be introduced to Sri Lanka shortly.
Mrs. Ranjanie S Goonetilleke, Head, IEL and Dean Academics who was a senior banker and consultant in Banking and Finance said IEL MBA programmes are recognized for high quality and high academic standards.
The objectives of IEL programmes are to: provide students broad knowledge of concepts, policies and techniques for effective and efficient management of business; develop communication and soft skills necessary management professionals; familiarize students by supplying management tools for real business situations and impart skills necessary for success.
She said that the MBA Programme will give students the opportunity to develop highly valued professional skills and a competitive edge in their career. She said that in most organizations, the senior managers are usually MBAs and that the MBA programme will be the key competitive advantage in a competitive business environment.
She said that IEL offers air-conditioned rooms, comfortable study environment with modern equipment and a well equipped computer lab with internet facility.
IEL offers; a faculty with a mix of academics including lecturers from national universities and experts with corporate exposure; case study based teaching methodology; personality development; CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) evaluation; free study material and a practical approach.
Ms Goonatilleke said that students get value for money through the most affordable quality MBA programme in the country. She said that they give around sixty high quality books free of charge for the MBA programme. The MBA programme is structured to include a range of disciplines including Marketing, HR, IT and Finance.
She said that a restructuring process of IEL was implemented in July 2009 and a decision was taken to postpone new student enrollments for undergraduate programmes temporarily. Student enrollment at postgraduate level for the in-campus MBA programme and DLP – MBA programme are continuing with the next student intake planned for 3rd week of October.
When completing each stage MBA students receive Certificates and Diplomas. Mrs. Goonetilleke emphasized that students get an advantage since for some reason if they are unable to complete the degree programme he/she still has some proof of gaining knowledge and skills. |
