Coinciding worldwide release, ‘Aladin’, Bollywood movie starring Miss Sri Lanka Jacqueline Fernandez as the lead star is now being screened at Majestic cinema Colombo.
A new version to the Arabian fairytale, that revolves around Jasmine (played by Jacqueline), the most beautiful girl in the entire Khwaish campus and for whose heart many have fought. However Jasmine is not a damsel in distress. Fortified with a mean left hook and a black belt in karate, she would not just drop dead.
Even though gorgeous and sweet- she is also sassy and smart and can hold her own against any villain who dares to cross her path.
Aladin (Riteish Deshmukh) who also falls in love with her at first sight but seems to be destined to stand last in the queue.
He is a young man who shares nothing other than his name as the protagonist of the famous fairy tale. Orphaned as a child he now lives in a cosy house in Khwaish.
Though madly in love with Jasmine he is constantly thwarted by his nemesis Kasim.
From his school days, Kasim and his gang have been bullying Aladin, making him rub sundry lamps to make the genie. All the time, Aladin who has been running around, all his life until one special birthday when he gets his real lamp with a real genie from Jasmine herself.
Yet Aladin has to overcome many odds to fulfill his wishes from the genie (Amitabh Bachchan), of course a modern-day genie who is himself called ‘Genius’. Produced and directed by Sujoy Ghosh, the film is imported by Tissa Nagodavithana, ‘Aladin’ is a CEL release.
