Moratuwa University Tennis Champs

The Moratuwa University Tennis team emerged Inter University Tennis Champions for the 3rd consecutive year.

The highlight was the final against the Colombo University Team. The Moratuwa lads led by Prathaj Haputhanthri defeated the Colombo University team 3-0 maintaining their 3-0 victory against the other Universities in all the matches played in their run-up to the final. They gave a magnificent display of tennis right through the tournament which left the opponents way behind in every match played.

Captain Prathaj Haputhanthri and Vice – Captain Kishanthan Thangaraja who had the honour of representing Sri Lanka at the 25th World University Games in Serbia this year were outstanding, while Thilan Jayatilleka too was at his best.

The Moratuwa team is coached by Mr Dinith Pathiraja who has been coaching them for the last 3 years.
The members of the team were Prathaj Haputhanthri(captain), Kishanthan Thangaraja(vice captain) Chiranthaka Halpe, Thilan Jayatilleka, Parinda Jayasiri, Sujeewa Liyanage, Ruchira Gunawardena and Thiran Sellahewa.

The final results against Colombo:
1st Single: Thilan Jayatilleka beat Dilan Perera 6-0/ 6-0; 2nd Single: Prathaj Haputhanthri beat Malinda Rubasinghe 6-0 / 6-0; 3rd Single: Krishanthan Thangaraja beat K. Kesigan 6-0 / 6-1
