These days almost all of us do our marketing at supermarkets. Yesterday I dropped by at a popular supermarket which is part of an islandwide chain.
I asked the salespeople about the recently revised price of sugar and was told that the reduced prices were available at the CWE only.
We all know that when an election – Presidential or General – is on the horizon, prices fall like ninepins. But this much-publicised “gundu” is worse than Murali’s “doosra”.
Come on, let’s not mislead the general public. The reduced prices should apply islandwide, at all consumer goods sales points, whether it is the CWE, the supermarket or any other outlet.
As a householder, I find the calculations for saving the average home Rs. 2,000 a month in household expenses simply hilarious.
Frustrated Householder,
