The importance of entrepreneurship to any economy or country for that matter is an undeniable fact. Entrepreneurial activity and the resultant financial gain are always of benefit to both the country and individual.
Here in Sri Lanka, the sight of the young and educated, holding placards, conducting demonstrations, fasting till demands are met, etc, seem to be a norm rather than an exception. It is rather sad to note that these youth, mainly comprising of graduates and diploma holders, solely rely on government jobs while plenty of self employment opportunities with rich rewards are out there.
In fact the financial rewards are immense and according to statistics an amazing 86% of the millionaires in America are entrepreneurs. It is surprising that this aspect is not being considered by most people.
What really needs to be done is creating awareness and guiding in the right direction so that these thousands of talented people could venture into their own businesses without depending on others thus generating new employment opportunities and gaining financial freedom.
"Over the years it has become increasingly apparent that entrepreneurship does indeed contribute to economic development. Transforming ideas into economic opportunities is the crux of entrepreneurship. History shows that economic progress has been significantly advanced by pragmatic people who are entrepreneurial and innovative, able to exploit opportunities and willing to take risks."
The good news is that entrepreneurship can of course be learned as opposed to the popular myth that entrepreneurs are born. In this regard First Global Knowledge Centre (FGKC) has come forward to introduce a novel programme of study to encourage the youth to explore possibilities of launching their own businesses. Not only school leavers but also working people will immensely benefit from this programme which includes real life examples of successful entrepreneurs, both local and abroad, and case studies.
This is a unique programme which is totally practical oriented and also fun filled. Compared to other academic courses on the subject, the FGKC entrepreneurship course comprises of lots of assignments which will test and bring out the best of the skills and talents the student possesses.
At the end of the programme, the participant will be armed with an acceptable business plan to commence a business with a creative idea and nurture it to be a highly successful one. This course will also be a stepping stone for higher studies in the field of entrepreneurship.
