Umpires are said to be the lords of the field. However at a recent game a batsman was given out apparently for a catch which was taken off the ground! The strange part is that even the leg umpire declined to comment on it saying that he did not see the incident. A player who had seen the incident who was brave enough to voice his comment was at the receiving end from his skipper for telling the truth. The batsman involved in the incident was a leading Sri Lanka player. What price honesty?
 What a blunder
The Leading Man who was to be the Chief Guest at the big cricket gala kept away because the big bash was held on a Holy Day specially meant for Christians. However one wonders how this set up was created because most of the chaps at the Citadel are supposed to be Christians. What a blunder!
Lady in trouble
A certain lady attached to the Oval Office has been interdicted! The reason: She was caught with a pen drive that is supposed to have contained vital information. The mystery deepens as there is supposed to be a big inquiry going on and the lady concerned is suspected of taking out certain information regarding the inquiry. Could this be correct?
Umpire in trouble
A leading cricket umpire whilst traveling down to Colombo from Kurunegala has been allegedly involved in an accident with a car driven by an old lady. The worst is that the lady’s leg is now to be amputated! But before that the top rung umpire who is also billed to officiate at the Twenty twenty contest in the Caribbean, had been severely man handled by the irate bystanders. The top umpire was accompanied by his son who also had to face the same fate.
 What a lucky guy
An order from the top saw a leading cricketer from the outstations being included in the squad for the cricket ‘do’ in the West Indies. However insiders say that his name was not on the original list but an order from the blue which came from the highest of skies saw the guy being included. What luck for him! If the guy finds himself too at the top of the ladder, the chances are that there will be security chaps chasing after him at the grounds itself.
Special invitations
Invitations to VIPs at a big cricket bash are reported have been printed on special crystal cricket bats. However the story doing the rounds is that the person who is the brain behind this venture has pocketed a tidy sum from the project. Even the big wigs are wondering how such an amount could have been spent… just for invitations.
All is not well at the AGM
Jarra G the big man from IRB in Asia was here to observe the election at the Oval Ball . Though a bright picture was painted it seems all is not well and there has to be an AGM say… in one month. Veda has been holding serious discussion while Big Bull has been watching from the lines.
Big bull is heard to have said I only wanted to be VEE PEE and now thanks to Have nots , Kilroy and his brother ‘I failed to get nominations and now I will be President’. He is working OT to keep “Sene" the incoming one, out and it seems Sene is not willing to give in. Poor Sene realised that there was no Invite from the Sponsoring types for the awards ceremony . He learnt that Big Big bull and Big Mouth has cut his name from the List the sponsors gave. Sene worked his moves and was able to be present listen to Veda crowing a lot to impress the Numeric one. It seems Big Bull wanted to show Numeric one that Sene is not interested.
You scratch my back…
Colombo House was at the Labour Room at Vauaxaul as his case was called up. Again Podi Sir was there to represent the Oval Ball. Case postponed for another day as Big Mouth had sent a MC. It has been signed by Veda who is the first respondent. Aney!!!! See how they scratch each others backs. |
