The latest radio station to hit the airwaves of Sri Lanka, Hitz 97 FM with their tag line, It’s All About the Muzik, was officially launched at the Cinnamon Grand on April 26.
The station will feature chart hits from the late 60’s as well as contemporary hits and what makes Hitz 97 FM stand out is that it is the first radio station in Sri Lanka to webcast live via www.hitz.lk giving listeners in Sri Lanka and worldwide the chance to put a face to the voice by watching and listening to their favourite presenters. The station also invites listeners to stay connected to them through Facebook, email as well as an interactive website.
Another feature of the station will be the active SMS portal which electronically generates a reply, informing the listener of the time the request will be aired.
The company is headed by Managing Director Mahmood UlHaq, a qualified engineer with extensive experience in radio, television and telecommunication and is owned and managed by Univision Networks Limited (a joint venture of SATNET, a sister channel of SATH FM).
HITZ 97 FM, currently broadcasts within the Greater Colombo region and will initially expand to the North Western and South Western regions with islandwide transmission planned for the future.
