Michael Angelo, tucked away in a busy corner at Nawala, cosy and ideal for a family or friends to share a wholesome meal, has a menu that consists of authentic Italian dishes from pizzas to home made pastas and ravioli which makes it stand out from the crowd. The highlight at Michael Angelo is its authentic pizza oven which lends flavour and aroma to the pizza – “our pizzas are healthy and tasty, says Dimuthu as pizza maker Migara rolls out the dough deftly to turn out a four kinds of cheese pizza, “When cooked in the authentic pizza oven, the pizza retains its flavour and taste and is also just right.”
The pizza off the oven sizzles with cheese and is perfectly done, tasting crispy and light. Michael Angelo also serves the well known Italian bread focaccia, hot off the oven, sprinkled delicately with herbs.
Sri Lankans and Italians residing in Sri Lanka love the Italian fare at their restaurant, says Dimuthu who says that authentic home- made pizzas are available with a choice of toppings - “ The pizza is made right in front of you - you see the dough being rolled, the topping chosen and even while it is being cooked inside the pizza oven. Everything is natural and totally wholesome.” He adds.
