PATHE Academy www.patheacademy.org in collaboration with City & Guilds -UK, the International Education Network has launched the Diploma in English linked to the Common European Framework.
The International ESOL Diploma is a combination of City & Guilds International ESOL and International Spoken ESOL. The qualification assesses all four language skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
Assessment is covered by taking two papers:
- International Spoken ESOL which assesses real speaking ability through a one to one structured interview.
- International ESOL - a single exam paper which covers listening, reading and writing.
You can take each paper separately and receive separate certificates.
There is no specific admission criteria, PATHE teachers will assess your English knowledge by holding an aptitude test and refer to the appropriate group.
The programme is held at PATHE Academy located at Liberty Plaza, No: 250 (Second floor) Auditorium, 2/1, R.A De Mel Mawatha, Colombo-03 on week days or on week ends in the mornings and evenings giving the student much choice of flexibility for participation. g you to function in specific operations with greater success. Keeping in mind, the vast clientele that we cater to, we use the bi-lingual approach of teaching English alongside Sinhala explanations. Open for Learners of all ages and language levels, this certificate will help with social speaking, employment, future studies and at higher levels.

The certification is recognized by most English speaking universities, foreign employment agencies, embassies as evidence of language proficiency for entry purposes.
