This refers to the exciting news story in the Sunday Times of July 4, by Kumudini Hettiarachchi of a ten-hour liver transplant operation.
The team of doctors under the able guidance of Prof. Mandika Wijeratne and Dr. Anuja Abeydeera deserve not only the thanks and congratulations of the nation but should also be given the highest honour by the state for having performed a wonderful operation when they did not have facilities to perform such a "major surgery" in Sri Lanka.
This proves that if the required medical facilities are provided to our doctors they are capable of performing miracles in surgery.
This exemplary team of doctors is an asset to Sri Lanka.
