"Enjoying the Journey", an inspirational book by Anusha Atukorala (nee Abayasekara) of Adelaide, Australia, and published by the "Back To The Bible" in Colombo, was launched in the hall of the Cinnamon Gardens Baptist Church on July 12 in the presence of a large gathering of friends, relatives and well-wishers.
The author, in the course of her welcome address, thanked all those who had made the publication possible, notably the supportive team who worked on it at "Back To The Bible".

She also delighted the audience by singing a song she had composed for the occasion.
As stated in her introduction to the book, Ms. Atukorala confesses she wrote it "because I have a song in my heart and a message to proclaim! ........God often nudges me through mundane events, events big and small - a bird chirping, misplaced glasses, a telephone call, a pair of old shoes."
That will give you an idea of the kind of short, conversational reflections in this book which are enhanced by appropriate sketches and some beautiful colour photographs, all of which are the work of Anusha's niece, Dilshara Hill (nee Abayasekara), in Sydney.
Managing Director of Back to the Bible Mayukha Perera said the publication of Anusha's book was a "first" for his institution since they had only published literature in Sinhala and Tamil hitherto. "Enjoying the Journey" was their first venture into publishing in English.
Lilani Ranasinghe who edited the book, spoke of her impressions of "Enjoying the Journey" and how it had changed the way she looked at ordinary things.
Dr. Ranil Abayasekara read out two pieces from the book in a manner that whetted the appetite of those present, for more.
Chief Guest, Dr. Ajith Fernando, National Director of Youth For Christ, also expressed his delight on reading the book. Richard Brohier, an old YFC friend who by a happy coincidence had arrived from Australia, sang a song of praise to start off the proceedings.
Mrs. Anne Abayasekara gave the vote of thanks.
It was a happy and informal occasion and when everyone was invited for a time of fellowship over light refreshments, a long line of enthusiastic people went straight to the table at the back where the book was on sale at a special price, and then lined up to have the author sign the books they had bought.
