University of Kelaniya Basketball Squad

The Basketball team along with the Department of Physical Education of the University of Kelaniya will organize a 5-a-side Basketball tournament with the intention of enhancing the skills of the players, to create a positive impact on the minds of potential and talented future basketball players and create awareness and popularity of the game within the University as well as outside.

This will also be a great opportunity to motivate students to participate in other sports activities as well and to build up sportsmanship. The opening ceremony of the tournament is scheduled to take place at 7.30 a.m on August 7 at the University Basketball Court.

The chief guest for the event will be Professor Sarath Amunugama, Vice Chancellor of the University of Kelaniya. Eighteen prestigious teams both men and women will be participating in this tournament. Some of them are the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Air force, Otters Club, Dialog PLC, Universities of Sabaragamuwa, Eastern and Wayamba. To build up the unity and strength between the past and present players a special match has been scheduled to be played on that day.

The organizing committee would appreciate the presence of all the passed out Basketball players of the University and welcome all those interested in the game.
