NCC in command against the park lads

NCC did not enforce a follow on despite a lead of 222 runs on the first innings in their under-23 semi-final against Colts CC played at the CCC ground yesterday. After scoring 476 runs in their first inning they had Colts all out for 254 runs. Batting again NCC were 78 for 2 in 15 overs.

NCC could not make much headway to their commanding overnight total of 434 for 6 to be all out for 476 runs on the second. NCC batsman Chathura Peiris who was unbeaten on 193 runs could not add a single run to his overnight score. Imesh Udayanga was unbeaten on 21 runs.

Ishan Jayaratne did the damage claiming three more wickets for the addition of only 19 runs. Chathura Kumara also finished with three wickets to wrap the NCC out for the addition of only 42 runs.
Colts batsmen could not get going and lost wickets at regular intervals.

Roshen Silva batted well to top score on 117 runs inclusive of a six and 14 boundaries. Reshan Kavinga hit two sixes and ten boundaries to score 61 as NCC raced to 78 for 2 in 15 overs at stumps.

Colts 254 in 57.4 overs (Kushan Janith 28, Roshen Silva 117, Akshu Fernando 39, Ishan Jayaratne 21, Chathura Peiris 3 for 66, Roshan Laksiri 4 for 47, Roshan Wijenayake 2 for 34)

Stiff resistance from Tamil Uniion. Tamil Union made steady progress and were 115 for 1 at stumps in reply to Chilaw Marians total of 402 in their first innings in the other semi-final being played at the Colts ground yesterday.

Shehan Kamalean who was unbeaten on 74 runs was out for 82 runs while Buddhi Samarawickrema went on to score 59 runs.

Udara Peiris who had claimed two wickets on the first day claimed two more wickets. Sajith Kaumpriya and Gayashan Weerasekera had put on 92 runs in an unbeaten stand for the second wicket as Tamil Union reached 115 for 1.
