The Organization for Tourism and Hospitality Management (OTHM) originating in Britain has been designed to support the Tourism and Hospitality Industry through training and education programmes and a supply of experienced, focused and high quality personnel.

They provide a structure of professional and ethical training and personal development; a network and forum for the industry practitioners for mutual benefit and support and encourage ethical practice and standards in all facets of the industry.
The OTHM is one of the fastest expanding British professional bodies, with over one hundred and thirty listed training centres and Colleges worldwide. The OTHM Head Office is based in Wallington, Surrey. Many student members have now completed their OTHM professional Higher Diploma and have entered full-time employment or progressed to postgraduate or Master's level programmes in UK. Progression opportunities exist for students to become Associate or Full Members and also enter Postgraduate and Master's level programmes in Tourism and Hospitality Management. Students should aspire to both middle and senior management positions within the Industry and also maintain an on-going relationship with OTHM as a member to get the maximum benefit from the OTHM brand.
The current portfolio of OTHM courses allow individuals to commence studies at Introductory Certificate level and proceed to postgraduate Diploma level and specialize in six specialists OTHM units. Launched in August 2009 to higher echelons, the OTHM postgraduate Diploma is to be delivered by selective OTHM centres , in cooperation with the University of Hertforshire. In November 2009 OTHM was officially listed as an Awarding Body in the most important Ofgual/QCA by the distinguished higher authorities in Britain.
Aquinas University College Hospitality Faculty will commence Level 3 OTHM course leading to the prestigious level 4 & 5 courses in Nov 2010. Five Star hoteliers of national and international repute are already selected by Aquinas University as lecturers .When the examinations for the respective Levels are all passed, students will be awarded the OTHM certificate ,the London College of Dublin affiliated certificate and the Aquinas University College certificate.
This is an Industry which is very demanding and needs to be upgraded to international standard. Towards this goal an Advisory Council has been appointed to advise the best practices, comprising some Industry Market Leaders. |
