The International College was opened in January 2004, and is the pioneer English education institute of the region. The international college was named after the eminent educationist of the region the late Mr. C.O.Lesthakir, who did much to uplift English education of the youth of the Eastern Province.

The college is housed in a three storied building, with modern classrooms, Computer lab, library, science lab and the students get personal attention in all their subjects. The teachers are well trained graduates in their respective subjects, some teachers have overseas exposure.

The college has 295 children of all races, religions and is truly a multi religious, multi cultural and multi ethnic one where the students are taught to respect and work together with children of various backgrounds.

The college also lays emphasis on sports and the children are taught different kinds of sports activities in keeping with our belief that 'healthy bodies have keen minds. The Chairman of the college is Mr. O.l.Sabry Ismath the son of the late Mr C.O.Lesthakir who built this college to carry forward his late father's wish and dream.

The International College's management team is headed by Mr.I.M. Issadeen the Principal/Managing Director, a retired provincial director of education NEP. He is assisted by Mr. V. Lawrence, the Vice Principal/Director Education with a lot of international exposure in the educational field. The two sectional heads are: LKG to Grade 2 Ms. Navem Veerakone and Grades 3 to O/L Mrs Ashani Kumburudiwela Lawrence, together the management team carry a wealth of experience in the field of education.

The college follows the Local and Cambridge Syllabus and is an asset to the children of the eastern province. The college has grown heaps and bounds from its humble start to be on par with other international colleges in Colombo.
