The premises belonging to businessman and Softlogic Group founder Ashok Pathirage which formerly housed the Asha Central Hospitals has been leased out to the SLA for a period of six months, Mr. Pathirage told the Sunday Times Business.

Currently they are reaching an agreement with the Army to use the premises as a temporary measure since last week. This will be in place until the completion of the army hospital in Narahenpita.
SLA is shifting its hospital based next to Army headquarters at Galle Face Green, as the premises are being sold to the Shangri-La hotels.
Army spokesman Maj. Gen. Udaya Medawala said that they will continue to use the Horton Place premises for as long as they continue to pay the rent.
He also noted that this is a makeshift arrangement and will be used until the army hospital at Narahenpita is fully equipped. This hospital is still under construction, General Medawala said.
Mr Pathirage however, did not state as to what he would be using the premises for in the future following the leasing out of it to the SLA. |
