Smart Media annual report partners US-based CarbonFree

Sri Lankan annual report agency Smart Media has joined the US-based CarbonFree Certification, according to the certifier's blog CarbonFund.org. This is a programme which allows annual reports published by Smart Media to be deemed carbon neutral following a monetary contribution, equivalent to the carbon footprint of the annual report published, being deposited with an environmental project of Smart Media's choice. The blog had also noted further that the agency had thus far produced 1,361 annual reports over its 15 years of operation.

According to CarbonFund.org; "Smart Media has developed a carbon offsetting program for the print development, production and delivery to client of their annual report projects." Further indicated was that each annual report's carbon footprint can be offset against a variety of projects in the areas of Renewable Energy & Methane Projects, Energy Efficiency & Carbon Credits, and Reforestation & Avoided Deforestation. Additionally, while the overwhelming number of projects available for Smart Media to offset against is US-based, there are also alternatives identified for India, Brazil, China and even New Zealand. With many renewable energy projects particularly based in India.

Also, noting that "Smart Media delivers the full scope of annual report project development and production: knowledge and process leadership, designers, writers, photographers, pre-press, printers"; CarbonFund.org highlighted the agency becoming "world champions by clinching the coveted Platinum Award at the 24th International ARC Awards in New York [becoming] the first company outside the USA, UK and Continental Europe to achieve global champion status."
