Polypackaging gets vital ISO certification

Polypackaging Industries (Pvt) Ltd recently received the ISO 22000:2005 certificate at a ceremony at the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Thilak Collure, Secretary, Ministry of Industry and Commerce who officiated at the simple ceremony expressed the importance of adhering to best practices in the food manufacturing sector. He also stated that it is interesting to note the adherence of the micro-scale industries to international standards of quality management.

Perera by the Finance Manager of SGS Lanka (Pvt) Ltd Nimal Godamune at the Ministry. Others present at the occasion were from left - Asitha Seneviratne, Additional Secretary – Policy Development; Ministry of Industry and Commerce; Dharmathailaka Ratnayake, Consultant and Chairman Packing Sector Advisory Committee, Ministry of Industry and Commerce; Nimal Jayaratne – Finance Manager, Polypackaging Industries (Pvt) Ltd; and Rohan Jayathilaka, Act. Dy. Director, Development Sector, Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

S.M.A.G. Perera, Managing Director, Polypackaging Industries (Pvt) Ltd, said the company’s constant attempt to enhance standards has resulted in achieving the ISO certification. “The product at each stage of manufacture is assessed to ensure quality which is our number one priority. The company’s present level of success is purely due to the innovative thinking, dedicated planning and strategic initiatives,” he added.

The company, established in 1994 with small beginnings is now a leading manufacturer in the north-western province and provides quality flexible packaging solutions, having the capability of supplying printed and laminated flexible packaging material using Roto Gravure and Flexo graphic printing technologies.

The certification endorses the company’s commitment towards manufacturing of flexible packaging material mainly for food items confirming to international standards of food safety, according to a statement issued by Polypackaging Industries.
