It was a season of festivity and rejoicing in the school as it celebrated the 100th Birthday of its founder His Holiness Dr. Seyedna Mohammed Burhanuddin Saheb (TUS) the spiritual leader of the Dawoodi Bohra Community.

His Holiness Dr Seyedna Mohammed Burhanuddin has established numerous educational institutions all over the world. In this quest his great gift to the Borah community of Sri Lanka was the founding of Burhani Serendib School in February 1983. The School recently celebrated its silver jubilee in grand splendour. Today the school stands out as a well recognized and prestigious educational institution justifiably staking its claim as the single leading school for the Borah community.

Janab Aamil Saheb Nooruddin Bhai is the representative of His Holiness in Sri Lanka and the President of Anjuman - E - Saifi Trust. He is a father figure to all the students. Being an educationist, he bestows his maximum concern and interest over the school.

The unique feature of the school is that equal focus is given to religious and secular education. The students grow up in an environment where Fatemi morals and values are instilled and inculcated throughout the students' school life. The religious education is implemented effectively under the able guidance and leadership of Sh. Yayha Bhai and his colleagues.

The school not only educates the students but also trains them to face the challenges of the fast changing world. The curricular and Co-curricular activities have been designed with the singular purpose of developing the child's all round personality. The students sit the IGCSE O/L, GCE AS and AL examinations and have achieved many awards. This year too our students excelled by achieving 1st in the world in Accounting and 3rd in the world Computing and 1st in Sri Lanka for Computing at the GCE A/L and O/L Edexcel examinations.

Eminent and renowned educationists have been serving the school in the capacity of Principals and teachers. Currently the Principal of the school is Mrs. Faleela Be Jurangpathy former Principal of Muslim Ladies' College, Bambalapitiya, ably assisted by a team of well qualified and experienced team of teachers. The welfare and well being of the school is monitored by its active and energetic Secretary Mr. Murtaza Adamjee Lukmanjee and the team of members who comprise the Board of Management. They have been the driving force behind the success of the school in the recent past.

A series of special programmes were organised and held successfully to mark the 100th Birthday celebrations of His Holiness. The annual Sports Meet of the school was held on February 12 in honour of His Holiness at the Sugathadasa Mini Stadium with a touch of extravaganza and splendour. The other events included a power point presentation of the life of His Holiness and a variety of competitions which displayed the students' creative talents.

It is the fervent prayer of the students and staff of Burhani Serendib School that Allah Subahanahu tha'ala grant His Holiness a long life replete with happiness and good health and may Burhani Serendib School grow from strength to strength under His guidance and benevolence.
