Emirates has opened a spanking new city office in Colombo, in a further demonstration of its commitment to the destination, the airline said.
The new Emirates office on the 7th floor of Hemas House, Colombo 2, brings together the passenger and cargo offices of the airline, which were previously located on the 9th and 5th floors of the same building, for the greater convenience of customers, it said in a press release.
The formal opening of the new office took place with the traditional ribbon cutting by Mahmood Al Mahmood, UAE Ambassador in Sri Lanka, Majid Al Mualla, Emirates’ Senior Vice President Commercial Operations (West Asia & Indian Ocean) and Hussein Esufally, CEO of Hemas Holdings, who represented Forbes Air Services, the Emirates General Sales Agent (GSA) in Colombo.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Al Mualla noted that Emirates launched services to Colombo in April 1986, and has served Sri Lanka continuously, for the past 25 years. “We are committed to this market and to support the growth of tourism and the country’s dynamic export sector,” he said. “The refurbishment and relocation of our city office in Colombo is also a symbolic expression of our commitment to the destination.”
Forbes Air Services Managing Director Imtiaz Esufally who spoke on behalf of the GSA described the company’s 15 year relationship with Emirates as “a long and encouraging road.” “We have learnt a lot from Emirates, the airline’s culture of growth, expansion, determination, professionalism and brand excellence,” he said.
Emirates currently operates 28 services a week to Sri Lanka. Of these, 21 services are westward to Male and Dubai, while seven are eastward to Singapore. The Emirates global network now comprises of 113 destinations on six continents. |
