Mahindra & Mahindra recently launched the (pick up) ‘Genio’ which will hit the Sri Lankan market in September. Ideal Motors, Mahindra’s sole distributor for automobiles in Sri Lanka, plans to import ‘Genio’ single and double cabs to cater to the small and medium businesses transportation needs and is expected to attract rural industrialists and traders countrywide, CEO of the company Chaminda Perera told the Business Times.
Intially the company will bring down four vehicles and it will be displayed mainly in rural areas, he said. "Most of the customers prefer to drive these kind of vehicles on their own and they expect some kind of comfort while driving.. that is why we plan to bring down car-like styling and comfort in Genio...," he said. He said the vehicle was built on the same platform in which passenger vehicle Mahindra Scorpio and Xylo are made.
