30-year AMW-Yamaha bond creates new motor cycle culture in Sri Lanka

A new motor cycle culture was created in Sri Lanka through the combination of Associated Motorways Ltd (AMW) and Japan 's renowned Yamaha Company, AMW officials said. The local company this week marked a significant milestone, celebrating its 30-year association with Japan 's renowned Yamaha Company.

The Yamaha-AMW combination was instrumental in creating a new motorcycle culture in Sri Lanka. The annual Yamaha Tour organized in collaboration with Yamaha motorcycle customers is one such example, company officials said.

Ranging from the YB 100 that was introduced to the market at the inception in 1981, to the present day SZ and YBR 125, all makes have been embraced by motorcycle lovers of this country. Yamaha bikes come with its trademark quality criteria backed with 100% Japanese technology, long lasting make, striking looks and the comfort that suits Sri Lankan road conditions.

“All this comes with the trusted and dependable AMW after sales service backed by a fully overseas trained team. Regular workshops and training sessions are also held for the benefit of the customers to enhance their knowledge in security and other technical aspects,” one official noted.
These workshops conducted by foreign nationals will be increased in the future to cater to a larger section of their customers.

These programmes that started as 'Yamaha Day' will in future be enhanced under the title ' Yamaha Rider Academy '. The workshops are to be largely organized by Yamaha club members comprising Yamaha customers.

Officials said special mention should be made about service camps that are being conducted in every town on a regular basis providing Yamaha customers a platform to get their motorcycles tested and monitored by trained technicians.

In the production process Yamaha bikes come under a strict filtering process which eventually emerges as a product that is most suitable to the country and its roads. This has also resulted in the production process introducing new features which are certainly customer-friendly and accessible. All these factors have been contributory elements in the three-decades-old success story between Yamaha and AMW.
