Sri Lanka’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen was recently interviewed for the Chinese version of Forbes magazine, where he invited and encouraged Chinese and Far Eastern businesses to participate in the international exhibition and business forum “EXPO2012” to be held in Colombo next year.
He was interviewed in Colombo last week by Fortune China’s Hong Kong-based correspondent G. Sorokours. “With the end of a long drawn conflict just two years back, Sri Lanka is the new, emerging and promising frontier for cross border investors. The government has introduced attractive concessions for foreign investors. Among the key advantages for international investors in Sri Lanka are various tax reliefs and very nominal tax rates, the geographic location advantage of an emerging hub, a skilled and educated workforce with a high literacy rate of 93%, and continuously developing logistics infrastructure” Minister Bathiudeen was quoted as saying.
According to a Ministry press release, he said ‘EXPO 2012’ is a good opportunity for Chinese investors to visit Sri Lanka and meet the local business community and establish lasting and fruitful business relations. |
