Children look forward to any activity that gives them fun and joy. Despite being academic oriented, Wycherley always believes in infusing great joy into the lives of our little charges. "The Kiddies' Activity Day ? is just tailor-made for our little ones. This was so evident when Wycherley held its Annual Activity Day on Friday June 24 at the Mercantile Cricket Association Ground (MCA).
The entire ambience was just conceived for the children. The green grass that covered the entire grounds lent the comfort needed to the eye on a hot afternoon. This helped to enhance the beautiful décor which was the labour of love of the teachers of the Elementary Section at Wycherley and the talented minor staff. Walking in, every parent was enthralled by the eye catching colours that filled the grounds.
The children were all attired to perfection in line with the title of their events. The Kiddies Band costumed in Gingham checks had a typical Scottish outfit. Their performance was perfect if one may say so - as they are all seven year olds. The Drill Display Squad dressed in World Cup Cricket colours with colourful pom-poms' in their hands gave a display of perfection and precision.
Every item was titled to suite the children. Some of them had very interesting captions like "Kung-Fu Panda", "Let's go Fishing", "Strings for Breakfast", "The Power Puff Girls", "Twisters", 'Tennis Players" and "Tutti Fruity". Every item had toe tapping music to lend charm to the event.
"Fancy Me" was the title of their Fancy Dress Parade. The kids looked so cute dressed up in fancy costumes like a Pirate, Chicken, Doll, Spiderman and Bugs-Bunny. When the Principal Mr. Kingsley Jayasinghe addressed the children, his eyes swelled with affection at their wonderful performance solely trained and guided by the Elementary Section Staff.
The Chief Guest atthis occasion was Mrs. T. Tillekeratne the Vice Principal of the School. The Staff Race was the most eagerly awaited event by the children, who cheered their teachers unendingly. It would have been great joy for them to watch their teachers run. This event filled the air with vociferous cheering from the children who were all seated on the edge of their chairs in their class tents. The entire organisation of the event goes to the credit of the Elementary Section teachers who spare no pains to see that it is a day with a pattern of perfection. |
