Indo-Lanka meeting postponed

A joint Indo-Sri Lanka discussion, scheduled for Friday, on issues relating to fishermen of both countries had to be postponed when India said some of its resource personnel were not available. An External Affairs Ministry spokesman said fresh dates would be set for the talks. Originally, the talks were to be held in August.

Meanwhile, India’s Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai arrived yesterday on a three-day visit. He is due to visit the North to inspect Indian-funded projects. On his return to Colombo, he will call on President Mahinda Rajapaksa .

He is also due to meet Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe and members of the Tamil National Alliance.
