The newest children’s plays in town ‘Dangaya’ and ‘Punchi Andare’ will have another two performances at 3.30 pm and 6.45 pm at Lionel Wendt theatre, Colombo.
Produced by Yashodhara Sarachchandra and Kusumsiri Liyanaarachchi, the plays which can be enjoyed by the entire family are made to cultivate a healthy appreciation for drama among young audiences.
The actors include Sunil Thilakaratne, Jayanath Bandara, Pradeep Ramavikrama, Pramila Samarakoon, Kalum Kalhari Gamlath, Madhuranga Sri Lal, Nadeesha Sandamali, Ruchira Sooriarachchi, Himashi Vithanage, Nadeeka Kumudu Kumari, Vishva Thilakaratne, Randika Chathurani, Sachithri Athukorala, Devinda Wickramasinghe, Akalanka Prabhashwara, Dulanjan Dissanayake and Sachithra Karunaratne.
Stage management is by Himashi Vithanage and Darshana Ubeysekara, Make-up is by Vishwa Thilakaratne.
The two plays are organized by Jude Srimal.
‘Thank you Berty’ A tale of an old bachelor
Well-known comedian Tennyson Coorey’s debut direction ‘Thank You Berty’ about a 40-year old bachelor but young-at-heart is now being screened at the EAP circuit cinemas around the country.
The film has an entertaining story with many dramatic twists and turns. Others in the cast of ‘Thank You Berty’ are Bandu Samarasinghe, Dilhani Asokamala, Ananda Wickramage, Mahendra Perera, Nilanthi Dias, Ronnie Leitch, Susila Kottege and Prinkara Perera.
Berty the middle aged bachelor’s life changes when he meets Sanda (Nilanthi Dias) a nursery school teacher, who hails from a very rich family. Falls madly in love with her, Berty’s attempt to actualise this one sided love is the plot to the play.
Berty’s best friend Norty (Bandu Samarasinghe) is married to Matilda. Being a father of 12 children, Norty always attempts to make easy money and when Berty confides his secret love the latter advices him to get rich to win the girls heart and invites him to join him in the journey of making quick and easy money.
Berty and Norty in their journey to make easy money brings fits of laughter during the incidents they encounters.
Music directed by Sompala Rathnayaka, playback songs are done by Uresha Ravihari and Sangeeth Wickremasinghe. |
