The Management Club (TMC) together with International Quizzing Association (IQA)Sri Lanka branch, conducted the first ever International solo Quiz Championship organised by the Karnataka Quiz Association(KQA), at the Civil Aviation Authority Training Centre at Colombo 3 on Sunday 8th January
Samanth Subramaniam a writer and a journalist based in India , who is currently in Sri Lanka emerged the best out of 25 quizzers who took part while Lathikke Niriella, Pulasthi Rupasinha, Hasini Minuwanpitiya,and Sisira Mark Antony were placed the next best in that order.

The Quiz was simultaneously held in 7 other countries, USA, UK, Germany, Norway, Malaysia, Singapore and in India where it was conducted at 13 different venues.
When Sri Lanka was offered the privilege of being invited to conduct this inaugural event the Management Club together with IQA took upon themselves the task of extending this benefit to all quiz lovers in the island.
The format of the quiz was similar to the World Quizzing Championships, held in June every year, with two one hour sessions of 100 questions each covering 1.The Arts: 2. Science and Technology 3. Literature 4. Social Sciences 5. Business 6. Sports and Leisure 7. Cinema 8. Music 9. Food & Drink and 10. Connections
The contest was won by Pat Gibson (UK) who scored 110 points out of a possible 200. Kevin Ashman (UK) finished second with 101 points. Mark Grant (UK) took third place on the same score.
Karnataka Quizzing Association on Thursday announced the top scorers from each of the other participating countries as follows :
USA: Dan Melia (82) , Norway: Lars Heggland (69) , Germany: Sebastian Klussmann (43)
Malaysia: Movin Miranda (74) ,Singapore: Caleb Liu (52)
Sri Lanka: Samanth Subramaniam (78) while Lathike Niriella made 42, India: Swaminathan G. (76)
The Management Club is proud to be associated with IQA in conducting this quiz in Sri Lanka – as another activity in their knowledge development initiatives.
