Australia and New Zealand are two most liveable countries in the world. They are excellent countries to live and work. Though they are both developed countries they are short of skilled man power and thus are constantly looking for educated young people to join the work force. Both countries place high importance on education at all levels and accordingly most universities offer internationally recognised degree courses at under and postgraduate levels.
For many years in the past, Australia had regulations in place which made it quite difficult for even genuine students to select studies in Australian educational institutions. The government has since late last year introduced sweeping changes to visa issuance procedures to encourage genuine students to seek entry to universities directly or through recognised pathway programs.
The sponsorship funds required to be shown to obtain a student visa has been drastically changed. While UK has reversed some criteria on work visa for post qualifying students, Australia has introduced a work visa scheme for students who graduate from Australian universities and selected tertiary establishments with liberal choice of work ranging from 2-3 years. Australia has also changed the work rights for students to 40 hours a fortnight to help them to earn in a more flexible manner, extra income to supplement living expenses. All these changes are brought about to encourage “Genuine Students” to undertake courses of studies in Australia and to gain valuable work experience after studies. The regulations are tightened to de-link education from migration by bringing in tougher scrutiny under “Genuine Temporary Entry” criteria. These new rules and regulations in place will help more genuine students to gain placements for studies at Australian universities. The visa division of the Australian High Commission in Colombo has appointed Edlocate as a Streamlined Agent to make this process a hassle free one for genuine students.
With 18 Australian universities officially represented by Edlocate, 7 of which are in the “Go8” league, universities in all Australian States & Territories except NT and excellent university pathway institutions for students without direct entry results or grades at A/L Edlocate is the best university representative a student should consult.
