Consider the children

Story and Pix by Hasitha Kulasekera.

Negligence on the part of parents, busy streets and an overcrowded public transport system resulting in accidents are claiming innocent lives"Lankan children are victims of accidents and abuse mainly due to negligence on the part of parents, teachers and caregivers.

Many adults seem to be unaware neglect is also abuse, said 'Save the Children' Director Advocacy Menaca Calyaneratne. "It's sad, but due to the busy lifestyle of many adults, the safety of children is becoming of secondary importance.

Resultantly we see many accidents resulting in the loss of life and limb among children, she said.
It is right time adults took their responsibilities much more seriously and create a safe environment for children.
