This week’s Colombo Tea auction saw 6.64 million kg of tea on offer of which 2.77 million kg were Low Grown Main Grades and 2.42 million kg were High and Mid Grown Main Grades.
The Asia Siyaka market report stated that the Low Growns met with less demand and the Leafy Grade catalogue select best OP1s discounted sharply while below best and others were firm. Ops were firm on last week levels and the select best OPAs sold at last week’s levels, below best varieties lost out in value.
There was fair general demand in the Ex-Estate catalogues. Best Western BOPs moved up Rs.20 and more on special inquiry; others were irregular and lost Rs.10 to Rs.20. Nuwara Eliya BOP/BOPFs lost Rs.20 on average. Udapussellawa BOPs were Rs.20 to Rs.30 lower. BOPFs declined Rs.10 to Rs.20. UVA BOPs lost Rs.20 per kg.
High priced CTC PF1s declined Rs.50 to Rs.60 on last week high levels.
