The Christmas and New Year festivities at Cinnamon Grand Colombo began with the much-anticipated Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony on 2nd December 2024. Marking the official start of the season, the ceremony transformed the hotel into a dazzling wonderland, setting the tone for the month-long celebrations.
The Christmas spirit was further elevated with carol singing at the hotel’s lobby, where guests were invited to nurse a glass of mulled wine and sing along with the talented Highlians. This open-to-all event was a heartwarming gathering that brought guests and the community together.
One of the highlights of the season was “Moods of Christmas,” a captivating performance of traditional Christmas carols by the renowned Soul Sounds Academy under the direction of celebrated music maestro Soundarie David. Cinnamon Grand Colombo also showcased the city’s largest Pain d’épices cake, a rich and flavorful spice bread. Made with honey, rye, ginger, cardamom, and, of course, cinnamon, this delightful creation was sold by the kilo, offering guests a taste of holiday indulgence like no other.
The New Year’s Eve Black Tie Dinner Dance Gala was the pinnacle of elegance and celebration. Guests, dressed in their finest attire, began the evening with pre-dinner cocktails at the beautifully adorned Atrium, accompanied by live piano and saxophone music. The party continued at the iconic Oak Room, where a vast global cuisine buffet and live music by The Redeemers kept everyone entertained until the early hours. A lavish breakfast buffet concluded this unforgettable experience.
Meanwhile, the New Year’s Eve Splash at the Breeze Bar offered a vibrant poolside party featuring one of Colombo’s largest fireworks displays and the latest pyro specials. Guests danced the night away to music by two stellar DJs, creating memories to last a lifetime.
