Colombo Tea auction this week had 5.69 million kg of tea on offer with 2.46 million kg of Low Grown Main Grades and 1.98 million kg of High and Mid Grown Main Grades.
In the Leafy and Semi leafy catalogues select best OP/BOP1s were fully firm, whilst a range of best and improved below best varieties gained following quality. Teas at the lower end too were fully firm to dearer. Select best Ops maintained, whilst the corresponding OPAs declined, teas at the lower end maintained. There was fair demand at this week’s Ex-Estate auction with selected Western BOP/BOPFs gaining substantially on special inquiry. The other BOPs too gained but to a lesser extent, whilst BOPFs were firm to Rs.20 dearer. (SD)
